Breakdown

Sep 11

This is possibly a re-post from my old website. I don’t remember if I ever posted it.

Slap!

The sound seems to reverberate off of every surface, every facet, even off of the very brushes of the wind.

What did he do now? He stands rooted to the spot, twisting from the trunk of his being, recoiling from the pain and indignation that is pulses through him like the blow to his face that he now nurses. She screams at him, ferociously she tares yet another strip from him as she screeches far-flung accusations at him. He seems slightly confused; you can see it in his eyes.

General Improvements

Sep 04

Holy hell, a personal post! You know what that means everyone: Corey doesn’t have anything specific to write about, but is guilt-ridden enough to write something in an attempt to rid himself of the self-loathing that he’s now feeling.

Thankfully, I’ve got enough random crap to talk about, that it will actually seem like I’ve somehow planned this post. I should at least be able to get back to my regular schedule for posting stuff now that I’m in school (somebody quote me on this when I’m studying my brains out and abandon the schedule once again.)

Side note: Do you say “skedual” or “scheduel”? I found that after watching far too much Doctor Who over the years that I’ve been converted to saying “scheduel” instead of skedual.” Ruined me, I tell you.

Vindicate

Sep 01

This is possibly a re-post from my old website. I don’t remember if I ever posted it.

“Well. That didn’t go nearly as good as I had originally envisioned.” The prisoner stated, as we dragged him down the hallway. “Oh well. Can’t blame a guy for trying can ya?” Indeed we couldn’t. The man was to stand trial, and as usual, it will be a mere formality. Even the innocent are not safe from the Kings ‘justice’ anymore. Granted, this one was guilty, and we all knew, as we had caught him last night in a raid into some of the rebel hovels that are hidden, scattered amidst the city like festering wounds on an otherwise pristine body.

At least that’s what the king says. He seems to have gone a little off in recent days, should truth be told. No one will utter a word in even the most hushed tones of such happenings. The King has eyes, ears, and blades all around, and those who speak against him are either publicly executed, or simply cease to exist.

Roark – Break Of Day

Aug 28

Break Of Day is one of those albums that every time I come across it I don’t realize who the artist is, but I always think the songs sound fantastic. Then I’ll check my iTunes and realize that once again, it’s a song from Break Of Day. Then I say to myself “I really have to review this album! It’s so good!”

Then another month passes, and no review has been written, at least not by my own hands. Well I’m changing that today, because I ended up listening to the entire album from start to finish and I am not totally in love with this album.

Evil Dead The Musical

Aug 18

I happened to get some tickets to Evil Dead The Musical for last Saturday…that is, the Saturday that just passed. We were off to the side, and just outside the “splatter zone”. With a surprisingly small amount of props (though the ax, the 12 gauge, the chainsaw and the Necronomicon all make their appearances) and almost childishly simplistic sets, Evil Dead The Musical blew me out of the water with wit, energy, and so much homage that it almost hurts.

I’m almost at a loss for words to describe this stage performance. Fantastic, B, Sparse, Electrifying, Camp, Entertaining, Rude, and I’m sure I could think of more were I willing to dedicate more time towards the effort. Suffice it to say, it’s a great night out and it’s probably the best 40 dollars (for two tickets) that I’ve ever spent.

Deezer vs. Last.fm

Aug 11

I’ve found myself using online music sources when I’m not around my home computer or too lazy to plug in my iPod. I’ve found myself going between two different programs: Last.fm and Deezer.com.

Both have pros and cons, and I felt that it’d make a good article to compare my findings and contrast the two services. I’m not going to gives scores, because comparisons like this are subjective. I’ll let the readers come to their own conclusions.

Coldplay – Viva la Vida

Aug 07

I have to start by saying that I’m not a huge Coldplay fan. Short of some of their more well-known songs (Green Eyes, Yellow, Clocks) I’ve never been much of a fan; a fact my girlfriend has never quite understood why. Coldplay as a rule, have never really done it for me; their music tends to border on the hyper-sensitive, and though I like sensitive music, theirs was a brand I just couldn’t stand behind.

Then they came out with Viva la Vida.

My new MacBook is so… white

Jul 31

Seriously, it’s so white that it actually seems to give off light itself. It stands out so harshly against the rest of my room because it looks so clean and minimal. It’s like a work of art sitting on top of a rubble pile in Chernobyl. It’s so clean and pristine that I feel like I’m sullying it every time I lay my grubby fingers on it.

Some of you may be wondering why I’d now be a Mac owner. Those of you who know me know that I’ve never been a fan of Macs generally speaking. I find them overly simple, their mouse scares and distrubes me, they have some extra keys, and Mac users tend to be just so damned snooty. Have I sold out?

I got into school for graphic design.

Jul 28

That’s right, I’m school-bound once again. Two more years of weird sleep schedules, assignments, cliques, teachers, and too many people walking around in pajama-bottoms.

Joking aside, I’ve decided to go back to school for Graphic Design. Over the past two plus years, I’ve felt that though I’m reasonably good at programming, it’s not really what I want to do for the rest of my life. I’ve had a good run at my current place of employment, but I feel that it’s just not the direction I want to go in the long-run. You see, as I worked along side everyone I constantly felt myself obsessing over certain points; namely UI design, usability, and common sense in design.

Dr. Horribles Sing-Along Blog (2008)

Jul 24

Where the hell do I start with Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog?

Lets start with “watch this now.” It’s just that good. Joss Whedon once again proves that he’s a god at story-telling. He manages to put such a spin on the “Bad Guy” concept and actually gets you to root for the evil dude in this one. It’s funny, it’s serious, it’s witty, it’s cute, it’s heart-breaking, it’s totally out there.

It’s also one of the greatest thing’s I’ve seen in a very, very long time.
